Getting Started with CADENSA Mobile

Welcome to CADENSA Mobi::: info Forgot Password? If you forgot your password, tap "Forgot Password?" on the login screen. Enter your email address and you will receive a reset link. Tap the link in the email — it opens directly in the CADENSA app and takes you to the password reset screen where you can set a new password. ::: This guide will help you install, set up, and start using the mobile app for time tracking on the go.


What is CADENSA Mobile?

CADENSA Mobile is a companion app for CADENSA time tracking system, designed for professionals who need to track time while working remotely, in the field, or on the go. The app provides:

Installation

Beta / Early Access

The CADENSA mobile app is not yet listed publicly on the App Store or Google Play Store. It is currently distributed to early access testers via TestFlight (iOS) and a direct APK or internal Play Store track (Android). Contact support@cadensa.io to request access.

iPhone & iPad (iOS) — TestFlight Beta

  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store (free, made by Apple)
  2. Open the invitation link sent to your email by the CADENSA team
  3. Tap "Accept" in TestFlight
  4. Install CADENSA from within TestFlight
  5. Open the app from your home screen

Requirements:

  • iOS 13.0 or later
  • iPhone or iPad
  • Active CADENSA account
  • TestFlight beta invitation

Android Phone & Tablet — Direct APK / Internal Track

Option A – Direct APK:

  1. Download the .apk file from the link provided by the CADENSA team
  2. Enable "Install from unknown sources" in your Android settings if prompted
  3. Open the downloaded .apk file to install
  4. Open the app from your app drawer

Option B – Google Play Internal Track:

  1. Open the invitation link sent to your email
  2. Accept the internal tester invitation in the Play Store
  3. Install CADENSA from the Play Store

Requirements:

  • Android 8.0 or later
  • Phone or tablet
  • Active CADENSA account

First Login

Step 1: Open the App

Launch CADENSA Mobile from your home screen.

Step 2: Enter Your Credentials

On the login screen:

  1. Email: Enter your CADENSA account email
  2. Password: Enter your password
  3. Tap "Login"

Use the same credentials as your CADENSA web account.

Forgot Password?

If you forgot your password, tap "Forgot Password?" to reset it via email. Password reset must be done on the web app.

Step 3: Select Unit & Workspace

After login, you'll be prompted to select:

  1. Unit - The organisation/company you want to work in
  2. Workspace - The specific workspace within that unit

Workspace Selection

Required — Cannot be skipped

You must select a workspace before you can start tracking time. The workspace selection screen is blocking — the app will not proceed until a valid workspace is chosen. If the list is empty, your account has no workspaces assigned; contact your administrator.

Step 4: Grant Permissions (Optional)

The app may request permissions:

  • Notifications Recommended - For timer reminders and daily summaries
  • Background Activity Required - So timer continues when app is minimized

You can skip these and enable them later in Settings.


App Overview

Bottom Navigation Tabs

The app has 4 main tabs:

1. Timer Tab

  • Start/stop your timer
  • View currently running timer
  • Quick access to timer controls

2. Time Entries Tab

  • View all your time entries
  • Create new manual entries
  • Edit or delete existing entries
  • Filter and search entries

3. Projects Tab

  • Browse all projects
  • View project details
  • See project tasks

4. Settings Tab

  • Change language
  • View sync status
  • Manual sync trigger
  • Logout

Top Bar

  • Unit/Workspace Selector — Displays the current unit and workspace (e.g., Acme Corp / Development). Tap it at any time to switch to a different unit or workspace. See Units & Workspaces for details.
  • Sync Status — Shows online/offline status and a count of pending items in the sync queue
  • Running Timer Bar — When a timer is active, a persistent bar appears below the top bar on every tab, showing elapsed time and the project name. Tap it to jump back to the Timer tab.

Quick Start: Your First Timer

1. Go to Timer Tab

Tap the Timer icon in the bottom navigation.

2. Select a Project

Tap "Select Project" and choose the project you're working on.

tip

You can search for projects by typing the project name.

3. Add Details (Optional)

  • Task - Select a specific task within the project
  • Description - Add a brief description of what you're doing
  • Tags - Add tags for better organization (e.g., "development", "meeting")
  • Billable - Toggle if this is billable work

4. Start Timer

Tap the big "Start Timer" button.

The timer will start counting and display:

  • Elapsed time (HH:MM:SS)
  • Project name
  • Pause/Stop buttons

5. Pause (Optional)

Tap "Pause" to temporarily stop the timer. Tap "Resume" to continue.

6. Stop Timer

When you're done, tap "Stop Timer".

The timer will automatically save as a time entry and appear in your Time Entries tab.

Syncing with Web App

Real-Time Sync

CADENSA Mobile uses WebSocket technology for instant synchronization:

  • Timer started on mobile → instantly appears on web
  • Entry created on web → instantly appears on mobile
  • Changes sync in under 1 second

Offline Mode

If you lose internet connection:

  1. Offline indicator appears in the top bar
  2. Continue working normally - all actions are queued
  3. When online - actions automatically sync to server
  4. Toast notification confirms: "Synced X items"

Manual Sync

To manually trigger sync:

  1. Go to Settings tab
  2. Tap "Sync Now" button
  3. Wait for "Sync complete" message

Changing Language

CADENSA Mobile supports English and Hungarian (Magyar).

To Change Language:

  1. Go to Settings tab
  2. Tap "Language"
  3. Select English or Magyar
  4. App will reload with new language

Language preference is saved and persists across app restarts.
