Settings & Preferences

Customize CADENSA Mobile to fit your workflow. This guide covers all settings and preferences available in the app.


Accessing Settings

Opening Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings Tab
  • Tap ⚙️ Settings icon in bottom navigation
  1. Settings Screen Opens
  • Organized into sections
  • Scroll to see all options

Language Settings

Changing App Language

  1. Go to Settings Tab
  2. Tap "Language" under Preferences section
  3. Select Language:
  • 🇬🇧 English
  • 🇭🇺 Magyar (Hungarian)
  • 🇩🇪 Deutsch (German)
  • 🇫🇷 Français (French)
  • 🇪🇸 Español (Spanish)
  1. App Refreshes with new language

Supported Languages

Currently supported:

  • English (en)
  • Hungarian (hu)
  • Deutsch / German (de) — Added February 2026
  • Français / French (fr) — Added February 2026
  • Español / Spanish (es) — Added February 2026

Automatic Language Detection

When you first open the app (or after clearing app data), CADENSA automatically detects your device system language and sets the app language accordingly — no manual selection needed.

  • If your device is set to French → app starts in Français
  • If your device is set to Spanish → app starts in Español
  • If your device language is not supported → app defaults to English
Manual preference takes priority

Once you manually select a language in Settings, your choice is saved and will not be overridden by the device language on future launches.

Language Sync

Language preference is device-specific and does NOT sync across devices. Your mobile can be in French while the web app is in English.


Appearance Settings

Theme

Light / Dark / System

  1. Go to Settings Tab
  2. Tap "Appearance" under Preferences
  3. Select Theme:
  • ☀️ Light - Always light theme
  • 🌙 Dark - Always dark theme
  • 🔄 System - Follow device settings (recommended)
  1. App Updates Immediately

Date & Time Format

12-hour vs 24-hour

  1. Go to Settings > Preferences
  2. Tap "Time Format"
  3. Select:
  • 12-hour - 9:00 AM, 2:30 PM
  • 24-hour - 09:00, 14:30
  • System - Follow device settings (default)

Date Format

  1. Go to Settings > Preferences
  2. Tap "Date Format"
  3. Select:
  • MM/DD/YYYY - US format (01/15/2024)
  • DD/MM/YYYY - European format (15/01/2024)
  • YYYY-MM-DD - ISO format (2024-01-15)
  • System - Follow device settings (default)

Notification Settings

Timer Notifications

Background Timer Alerts

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications
  2. Toggle "Timer Running Notification"
  • ON (default) - Show persistent notification when timer runs in background
  • OFF - No notification (timer still runs)

Timer Completion Sound

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications
  2. Toggle "Timer Stop Sound"
  • ON - Play sound when timer stops
  • OFF (default) - Silent

Sync Notifications

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications
  2. Toggle "Sync Notifications"
  • ON - Show toast when sync completes
  • OFF (default) - Silent sync
System Permissions Required

For notifications to work, grant notification permissions in device settings:

  • iOS: Settings > CADENSA > Notifications > Allow Notifications
  • Android: Settings > Apps > CADENSA > Notifications > Allow

Sync Settings

Automatic Sync

When App is Online

  1. Go to Settings > Sync
  2. Toggle "Auto Sync"
  • ON (default) - Sync automatically when changes occur
  • OFF - Manual sync only

Sync Frequency

How Often to Sync

  1. Go to Settings > Sync
  2. Tap "Sync Frequency"
  3. Select:
  • Real-time - Immediate sync (recommended)
  • Every 5 minutes - Batch sync every 5 min
  • Every 15 minutes - Batch sync every 15 min
  • Manual only - Only sync when you tap "Sync Now"

Manual Sync

Force Sync Now

  1. Go to Settings > Sync
  2. Tap "Sync Now" Button
  3. Sync Starts:
  • Loading indicator appears
  • "Syncing..." message
  1. Sync Completes:
  • "Sync successful" (if all synced)
  • "Sync failed" (if errors occurred)

WiFi Only Sync

Save Mobile Data

  1. Go to Settings > Sync
  2. Toggle "WiFi Only"
  • ON - Only sync when connected to WiFi
  • OFF (default) - Sync on WiFi or cellular
Save Data

Enable "WiFi Only" if you have limited mobile data plan. Offline queue will hold changes until WiFi is available.

View Sync Status

Check Current Sync State

  1. Go to Settings > Sync
  2. View "Sync Status" Section:
  • All synced - No pending changes
  • X items pending - Items in offline queue
  • Sync error - Last sync failed
  1. Tap "View Queue" to see pending items

Account Settings

View Account Info

  1. Go to Settings > Account
  2. View:
  • Email - Your account email
  • Name - Your full name
  • User ID - Your unique user ID
  • Member Since - Account creation date

Edit Profile

Currently not available in mobile app.

To edit profile:

  1. Open web app
  2. Go to Profile settings
  3. Edit name, email, password

Changes sync to mobile automatically.

Change Password

Currently not available in mobile app.

To change password:

  1. Open web app
  2. Go to Account > Change Password
  3. Enter current and new password

Workspace Settings

View Current Workspace

  1. Check Top Bar - Current workspace name appears
  2. Go to Settings > Workspace
  3. View:
  • Workspace name
  • Workspace ID
  • Your role (Member/Admin)

Switch Workspace

If you belong to multiple workspaces:

  1. Tap Workspace Name (top bar) OR
  2. Go to Settings > Workspace > Switch Workspace
  3. Select Workspace from list
  4. App Reloads with new workspace data
Workspace Data Separation

Each workspace has separate:

  • Projects
  • Time entries
  • Settings (some)
  • Offline queue

Workspace Permissions

View what you can do in current workspace:

  1. Go to Settings > Workspace > Permissions
  2. See Your Role:
  • Admin - Full access (create/edit/delete projects, manage users)
  • Member - Limited access (create/edit own entries only)
  • Viewer - Read-only (cannot create entries)

Security Settings

Biometric Lock

Require Face ID / Touch ID / Fingerprint to Open App

  1. Go to Settings > Security
  2. Toggle "Biometric Lock"
  • ON - Require biometric to open app
  • OFF (default) - No lock
  1. If Enabled:
  • App locks when minimized
  • Reopening requires Face ID / Touch ID / Fingerprint
Device Support

Requires:

  • iOS: Face ID or Touch ID enabled in device settings
  • Android: Fingerprint or Face Unlock enabled

Auto-Logout

Automatically Log Out After Inactivity

  1. Go to Settings > Security
  2. Tap "Auto-Logout Timeout"
  3. Select Timeout:
  • Never (default) - Stay logged in
  • 15 minutes - Logout after 15 min of inactivity
  • 1 hour
  • 4 hours
  • 1 day
  1. After Timeout:
  • App logs you out
  • Redirect to login screen
  • Running timer stops and saves
Token Expiration

Even if auto-logout is disabled, tokens expire after 7 days of inactivity. You'll be logged out automatically.


Data & Storage

View Storage Usage

  1. Go to Settings > Data & Storage
  2. See:
  • App Cache - Size of cached data
  • Offline Queue - Size of pending sync items
  • Total Storage - Total app storage usage

Clear Cache

Free Up Storage Space

  1. Go to Settings > Data & Storage
  2. Tap "Clear Cache"
  3. Confirm Deletion
  4. Cache Cleared:
  • Temporary files deleted
  • App may reload data from server
  • Offline queue NOT affected
Clear Cache

Clearing cache may cause:

  • Slower first load (re-download data)
  • Temporary loss of images/avatars (re-download)
  • Offline queue is safe (NOT deleted)

Clear Offline Queue

Delete All Pending Sync Items

  1. Go to Settings > Data & Storage
  2. Tap "Clear Offline Queue"
  3. Confirm Deletion
Data Loss

Clearing offline queue permanently deletes unsync items. Only use if:

  • You want to discard pending changes
  • You're troubleshooting sync issues
  • You've already synced or don't care about pending items

Export Data

Export Your Time Entries

  1. Go to Settings > Data & Storage
  2. Tap "Export Data"
  3. Select Date Range:
  • This Week
  • This Month
  • Custom Range
  1. Tap "Export CSV"
  2. CSV File Generated and shared via device share menu
  • Save to Files
  • Email to yourself
  • Upload to cloud

CSV Includes:

  • Date, Start Time, End Time, Duration
  • Project, Task, Description, Tags
  • Billable status

Push Notifications

Enable Push Notifications

Receive Alerts from Web Users

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications
  2. Toggle "Push Notifications"
  • ON - Receive notifications
  • OFF (default) - No notifications
  1. Grant Permission when prompted

Notification Types

What you might receive:

  • Timer stopped remotely - Someone stopped your timer from web
  • Project assigned - You were assigned to new project
  • Entry edited - Admin edited your time entry
  • Workspace invite - You were invited to new workspace
Requires Backend Setup

Push notifications require server-side configuration. Check with admin if notifications aren't working.


Advanced Settings

Debug Mode

Enable Diagnostic Logs

  1. Go to Settings > Advanced
  2. Toggle "Debug Mode"
  • ON - Enable detailed logging
  • OFF (default) - Normal logging
  1. When Enabled:
  • Logs appear in app console
  • "Send Logs" button appears

Use Debug Mode When:

  • Troubleshooting issues
  • Reporting bugs to support
  • Developer testing

Reset App

Reset to Default Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Advanced
  2. Tap "Reset App"
  3. Confirm Reset
  4. App Resets:
  • Settings reset to defaults
  • Cache cleared
  • Offline queue cleared
  • You remain logged in
Reset App

This action:

  • Resets settings to defaults
  • Clears cache
  • Clears offline queue
  • Does NOT delete time entries (synced data safe)
  • Does NOT log you out

Developer Options

For Developers Only

  1. Go to Settings > Advanced
  2. Tap "Developer Options" (hidden by default)
  3. To Enable: Tap version number 7 times

Developer Options Include:

  • View Redux state
  • View API logs
  • View WebSocket events
  • Simulate offline mode
  • Force sync errors (testing)
Developer Only

Do not use developer options unless you know what you're doing. May cause app instability.


Logout

How to Logout

  1. Go to Settings Tab
  2. Scroll to Bottom
  3. Tap "Logout" Button
  4. Confirm Logout
  5. Redirect to Login Screen

What Happens When Logging Out

  • Synced data - Safe on server
  • Offline queue - Unsync items are lost (sync first!)
  • Settings - Preserved (language, theme, etc.)
  • Auth tokens - Deleted (must login again)
Unsync Items

If offline queue has pending items, you'll see warning:

Unsync Changes

You have 3 unsync items. Logging out will discard them.

[Sync First] [Logout Anyway]

Always sync before logging out!


Tips & Best Practices

1. Enable Auto-Sync

Keep "Auto Sync" enabled for:

  • Real-time data across devices
  • Automatic backup
  • Fewer conflicts

2. Use System Theme

Set theme to "System" to:

  • Auto-switch based on time of day
  • Match device settings
  • Save battery (dark mode at night)

3. Enable WiFi Only Sync on Limited Data

If you have limited mobile data:

  • Enable "WiFi Only" sync
  • Changes queue until WiFi available
  • Prevents data overage charges

4. Setup Biometric Lock for Security

If phone is used in public:

  • Enable biometric lock
  • Prevents unauthorized access
  • Quick unlock with fingerprint/face

5. Export Data Regularly

Backup your data:

  • Export CSV monthly
  • Save to cloud storage
  • Safe copy outside app

Troubleshooting

Settings Not Saving

Symptoms:

  • Change setting but it reverts

Solutions:

  1. Ensure app has write permissions
  2. Restart app after changing setting
  3. Check storage space (may be full)

Language Not Changing

Symptoms:

  • Select language but app stays in old language

Solutions:

  1. Restart app after language change
  2. Force-close app (swipe up in task switcher)
  3. Reinstall app if issue persists
Auto-detection on first launch

If you cleared app data and the device language isn't being picked up, check that your device system language is set to one of the supported languages (en, hu, de, fr, es). Unsupported languages fall back to English.

Notifications Not Working

Symptoms:

  • Enabled notifications but not receiving them

Solutions:

  1. Check device notification permissions (Settings > CADENSA > Notifications)
  2. Ensure "Push Notifications" is ON in app settings
  3. Check backend push notification setup (ask admin)

Sync Always Fails

Symptoms:

  • Manual sync shows "Sync failed" every time

Solutions:

  1. Check internet connection
  2. Check server status (ask admin)
  3. Clear offline queue (if corrupted)
  4. Contact support with debug logs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do settings sync across devices?

Some settings sync, some don't:

  • Synced: Workspace selection, favorites
  • Not synced: Language, theme, notification preferences (device-specific)

Can I reset password in mobile app?

No. Password reset must be done in web app or via "Forgot Password" on login screen.

How do I enable dark mode?

Go to Settings > Appearance > Dark. Or use "System" to auto-switch based on device settings.

Can I change my email?

Currently not in mobile app. Use web app to change email in Account settings.

What happens if I logout with offline queue items?

You'll see a warning. Unsync items will be lost if you logout. Sync first to save them.
